The Best Puppy Food For Pugs

Like all dog breeds, Pug puppies require different nutritional requirements than adult dogs. Their cute little bodies require more protein, amino acids, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids (such as DHA) for eye and brain development.

Feeding A Pug Puppy and Health Impacts

Pugs are prone to several health problems due to them being a brachycephalic breed. As a puppy, it’s important to feed them a well-balanced diet that provides them the proper amount of nutrients they need.

Feeding your pup the wrong type of food can be deterrent to their health and can increase their chances of acquiring diseases.

A growing pup requires the right balanced commercial diet which can help strengthen their immune system, bones, and protect them from infections. The right diet will also result in a good hearing, improve their vision, enforce healthy levels of gut bacteria, and promote good overall health.

Your Pug puppy diet plan is extremely important to reduce their chances of health problems as they mature.

How Much Should I Feed My Pug Puppy?

Pugs are known to gain weight easily. This is why it’s extremely important to start them on a daily feeding schedule to prevent obesity.

This article will discuss everything you need to know about feeding a Pug. It will give you an idea of how often you should feed your Pug. However, it’s important to remember your puppy requires more food than an adult.

However, if they gain a lot of extra weight as a pup, it will lead to more breathing problems down the road.

The amount of food a Pug puppy needs will depend on different factors such as age and activity level.

You should feed your pup at least three to four times daily with snacks in between. Once they reach 6 years old, their metabolism will slow down and you can cut back to feeding them two times a day.

Your puppy needs to consume approximately 35 calories per pound of weight each day. Which means about 1 ounce of their favorite nutritional food for each pound your puppy weighs.
