5 Things You Should Know Before Getting A Pug Mixed With Corgi
As with any dog, there are things you need to consider such as training, appearance, grooming, food consumption and etc. Let’s take a look at some of the needs of the Corgi Pug.
#1 Pug Corgi Dog Colors and Appearance
A large majority of these dogs are tan colored with a black mask around their face. They also have flat faces that resemble the Pug, but not as flat. These dogs also have brown dark eyes, that do not bulge like the Pug.
Their ears resemble the Pugs and flop down. The body of the Corgi Pug will not be as long and pronounced as the Corgi parent.
The tail will usually resemble the Pugs and have a curl over the back, with the Corgi bushy signature.
The coats on this dog will vary from:
- Sable
- Red
- Black
- Fawn
- Tan
Like their parents, these are not hypoallergenic dogs. These dogs shed a lot, so you will need a good grooming brush to remove dirt and debris on a regular basis. I find this one extremely useful for controlling my Pug’s shedding problem.
#2 Porgi Dog Food Consumption
Both sets of parents love eating and are prone to obesity. It’s important to feed your new Corgi Pug mix a healthy well-balanced diet that contains the proper nutrients, that won’t cause them to gain weight. #4 Training Your Corgi Mix
Both parents are known for their stubborn temperament, so you should expect that from this mixed breed. Both the Pug and the Corgi are intelligent dogs, which means that the Corgi Pug is trainable.
It’s best to start training and socializing them as soon as you get them. They tend to do well with positive reinforcement training, so you’ll want to make sure that you have plenty of treats nearby during your training sessions.
Consistency if the key to ensuring that your pet grows into an obedient, friendly, and well-adjusted member of the family.
#5 Exercise Requirements of The Corgi Pug Mix
The energy levels of the Corgi Pug will vary depending on which parent they take after. Most dogs will be fine with two 20-minute walks per day.
However, if the pup takes after the Corgi, they may require higher levels of activity to suffice their energy level.
Like the Pug, you will want to avoid exercising this dog in the heat. They can be prone to breathing problems, due to their flat face.
If your mixed breed canine has short legs like the Corgi, avoid doing any physical activities that can cause injury to their joints.
Is The Corgi Pug A Good Family Dog?
Both parents make great family pets, which means that the Pug Corgi will do very well in a family environment. This mixed breed will do well with children and other animals.
